What is living in Florida like? Family friendly?

We currently live in Maine but are considering a move to Florida, probably Vero Beach or Port St. Lucie area. I am tired of Maine, it is BEAUTIFUL and safe, but boring and so slow-paced so I am looking for a place with lots of fun things to do with children and for families, which I think Florida would offer. I would like to know about crime rates, rent rates, weather, scenery (is it mostly flat), traffic, the people, cost of living, education, wildlife, and anything else you might have to offer for info. Thanks. What is living in Florida like? Family friendly?
I live in florida and its very nice here. There are specific areas that you dont want to move like lets say near gas stations lol. my brother lived next to a gas station and he was robbed a few times. We live on a dead end house and have never had any trouble. Most people are very nice here and generous. Im only 14 so i don't know about rent rates. The weather is nice now because its winter but its usually hot and humid, but thats why we have pools and oceans and thats always great. The senery is fenominal if you live on the ocean like we do. Most people take it for granite. There are palm trees everywhere and i know some people up north havent even seen palm trees.

Now traffic theres minimal exept when its winter and all of the snowbirds come down. The people are nice, and friendly, but in some areas theres lots of old people lol because they all retire here.

There are schools everywhere, colleges, elementry, middle, and private.

The wildlife has many different things. Our neighborhood has panthers, foxes, and a wild cat was right next to our pool cage(scary). Theres also many other things that the ocean has to offer. Every time we go on our boat we see a dolphin we named moochy lol. Last time we went we saw 2 sea turtles too which was awsome.

Another thing i like about florida is the family owned resteraunts and ice cream shops. There on every corner!

Hope this helpedWhat is living in Florida like? Family friendly?
G'day Beck,

Thank you for your question.

Florida had the highest cost of living increases last year due to fuel prices. The more touristy places have high rents but other places are more likely to be reasonable. The crime rate is higher than the US national average at 7.88 as compared to 4.7.

South Florida has a tropical climate while the rest of the state is subtropical. It would be quite a change from Maine. However, hurricanes are a problem and it is also prone to tornadoes. It has lovely scenery especially the Everglades and beaches. There is also plenty of wildlife notably in the Everglades. The high school graduation rate is 79 per cent.

I have attached sources for your reference.
