I live in maine and I'm joining the Air Force and trying to decide what to put on my dreamsheet to be stationed at. whats it like in OKINAWA???

My fiance livesi n Okinawa for 10 years in his childhood and he talks about how he misses it so much. He talks about clear warm water, beaches, cheep everything, good authentic food, nice housing, wonderful weather, fun local attractions (malls, ferris wheels, etc.) Great fishing and everything you could ever want. He lived there from age 6 to 16 and he wants to go back for an extended visit as soon as we have money. He said he loved it more than any other place in the world.Whats okinawa like?
party party party...little island of partying.my husband went there twice for the shooting range.We are in Iwakuni and I have friends down there and they love it. Don't go to the Banana shows drunk cause its not a pretty sight especially when you get picked to eat the banana cause your the drunkest one in there.



by the way the people here in Japan are very nice %26amp; polite ...they treat us very nice even though some of them hate us...they won't show it...everything about Japan is beautiful.I love it!!! You will like it very much!!
crappy...been there, done that...just say no to Japan...it's charming for about the first 2 or 3 months and then it's a drag





BTW...despite what the above posters have said, and I respect their opinions, the dollar sucks right now, and they do hate Americans (even though they're polite about it) so be ready to live on base and like itWhats okinawa like?

thats cool ur from Maine i live in Portland anyways i have a Japanese friend and he can't wait to go back ........hopefuly i get a chance to go their it's amazing and if your polite then you won't have a problem with people.......i wish i could go i want to meet the jpop singer Matsumoto jun from arashi his so FINE.

Okinawa is a wonderful place! Its very peace full and pretty, and there is alot to do, u will never get bored! The Okinawans are very friendly and most of them can speak English. The weather is fine. But in raining season it gets very humid which will get annoying sometimes..coz most of the times, Okinawa is humid.
The climate is like Bahama or Jamaica. Many bases and army there are as well as main land of USA. You don't need to learn Japanese because you can speak English to do things in daily life even outside of base. Living cost is not so high than main land of Japan. There are so many beautiful white sand beaches in Okinawa.
