Would you let your 3 year old run around naked on a hot day?

I never thought anything of it. I have a few friends who would let their preschoolers run around naked, or let their baby go around in a diaper, etc. on a hot day. My girls are now using the toilet so they are out of diapers and I don't have a problem with them being naked. They're still young and innocent so what's the big deal?



I never even knew anyone thought that was a problem until I heard them talking about Octomom on the news and how the neighbors said that the children were running around naked sometimes and how weird and wrong that was. It suddenly made me paranoid!! Someone slap me in the head and tell me to quit letting idiot talking heads affect my thought processes, OR give me a good solid argument on why my 3 year olds should never run around naked even when it's 85 inside. lol



(We don't have any air conditioners in yet. I live in Maine and it's still possible to have a long stretch of weather where it's in the 60's. Two weeks ago I was running the heat and my kids went to bed in fleece PJ's. lol)Would you let your 3 year old run around naked on a hot day?
My daughter (3yrs) is sitting on the couch eating pudding right now....naked. She's a nudist, and I'd spend my entire day putting clothes back on her if it bothered me. If we're outside for any extended amount of time or someone is coming over, we put on some clothes. But for just running around the house? I could care less if she's naked.



I have a friend with a 4 year old, and she won't allow her daughter to be without clothes at all. I'm constantly hearing, while on the phone with her, "put your clothes on now! Don't you take that underwear off. You're not going in that pool until that shirt goes back on" etc. She sounds crazy.
I wouldn't let them run around completely naked, they like to play in the sand/dirt, there are bugs that could go where they shouldn't go. I have let them play in the back yard in a diaper when they were younger. But I wouldn't let my 3yo daughter play outside naked or in just underwear, I think she's too old. Of course that's just my opinion.



****To the other answerer****My kids aren't hungry and they have clothes, therefore they should wear them. If I saw a child who was hungry and had no clothes, I would feed them and buy them clothes!Would you let your 3 year old run around naked on a hot day?
If you are worried about preverts they are everywhere and seeing your child or mine naked will not change nor create that. It is really no big deal, my daughter went with out clothes many times until she was almost 5, it really was not an issue. I let her go outback or swim or whatever it was too hot where we lived. What is wrong with people, let kids be kids.
Ugh..no, there's nothing wrong with it.

My son runs around naked (inside and out, lol) on a regular basis.



eta: And a pedophile could get their "kicks off" by watching little kids run around in their swimsuits. Or fully clothed at the park or grocery store.

There are pedophiles that whack off to playground equipment just because it reminds them of kids.

I personally never let my children run around naked. But I do not see anything wrong with others letting their children do it. However I really do think that after they are potty trained they should atleast have panties/underwear on, not completely in the buff.
what is right and what is wrong is personal decision, you choose what you want for your child, remember there are a lot of children hungry and without cloths to put on, ask those who think it is wrong what they think about the hungry and naked kids
Most people say it because of pedophiles who may be looking at your child. Put a swim diaper or something on them and keep it moving. Their YOUR children. My mom use to let us put on our swim suits and run in the house on hot days when it was close to 100 degrees.

For no other reason you don't which of your neighbors, no matter how nice they are, could be pedophiles or sex offenders getting their kicks off your kids. Adults don't walk around outdoors naked on hot days it would be considered indecent exposure. It's no different for a child, regardless of their age. It's not appropriate no matter how it is justified.

If it's a hot day slather sun screen on them, put on bathing suits and put up a sprinkler for them to cool off in. That would be more appropriate than running around in the nude publicly (even if it is in your yard) where anyone can be thinking any number of things about naked children. It also makes the kids look unkept and as if you are unfit as a parent letting your kids do this- even if it's not true. That's why they make shorts, sun dresses and other appropriate summer attire for children. Naked is not an option.
My kids practically run around half-dressed the whole summer. Granted, we live in the middle of nowhere so it's not like they are outside with neighbors seeing them.



So what if my 2 year old wants to play outside in her underwear? I'm the only one who can see her lol



My oldest daughter pretty much wears nothing but her swimsuit in the summer time, and my boys are always shirtless. People need to quit freaking out so much about things that don't matter. It's not like you're taking your kid to the grocery store in nothing but a diaper.
I allow mine to just have on shorts or in previous summers just a diaper. Mine took her shirt off to run through the sprinkler on Sunday. I know all of my neighbors very well and none of them are pervs. I don't think I'd let her be totally naked outside the house though. You never know who might be driving down the street or peeping out their windows. Now if I lived in the country of course I'd let her run naked. But a dozen houses can look into our backyard.
I don t agree though I wouldn t judge you if u do so everyone s free for me. I try to give u some ideas of mine why I don t agree. Infections kids run everywhere u can never say. Also I live in a very hot island in summer it is terrible though I leave my 2 year old in a panty or shorts and a white t shirt. I feel if you choose a good material it keeps off heat better then wearing nothing. It is safer also if there is some sort of flying insect you can t say.
