Denver Climate/Sun?

I am a guy living in southern Maine, and I've all but decided to move/transfer to the Denver area in Colorado to finish school or perhaps for good... just need a change.

One of the biggest factors for the move is the weather/climate. I am used to colder weather, but I don't like it too hot or cold. Over 80 degrees is too hot for me, but I'd also prefer if it wasn't below 40 degrees too often. All in all, I like being cool a bit better than being warm, but not freezing like Maine. I like bright, sunny days as much as the next guy, but I also like the occasional snow storm in the winter, and LOVE thunderstorms, %26amp; don't mind the rain or fog too much. Another biggie is that I have seasonal effective disorder, so a big factor would be how long the days are and how much sun I get. The sun setting at 4 pm in Maine this time of year sucks. I want the sun to set later and rise earlier - MORE SUNLIGHT!

My Q's - How does Denver fit this critera? Climate? Temp? Sunset/rise? Cool Storms?Denver Climate/Sun?
Denver is nice, a bit snowy during the winter. Otherwise cool for much of the year, a few hot days during the summer. It's far enough south that you wont have the really short days that you have in Maine. And there are occasional Thunderstorms, that are very beautiful, just stay out of the canyons where flash floods can get you.

The pacific northwest is also good as far as your temp limits go. And it doesn't snow much at all. Portland, OR or Seattle, WA and all the nearby areas.Denver Climate/Sun?
seattle is in the 40s in the winter and the 70s in the summer, so the temperature meets your criteria. but they have short, gray days during the winter

colorado is sunny year round and a lot of people with SAD move to colorado. and the weather is odd...during the winter it is in the 40s on average but some days are 60 and some are in the teens. a lot of snow, but it melts fast due to all the sun. summers are in the 80s but it can get a lot hotter. humidity is low, making hot and cold temps not feel as extreme.

another option may be the mountains of new mexico around santa fe. cold in the winter...40 on average but frequently dips lower. summers are cool, and they have never recorded a triple digit temperature as far as i know. a lot of sun also

southern california is also an option. it gets hot inland, but near the coast the summer is in the 70s and winter is in the 60s. so it is fairly warm year round but you wouldnt get too hot. a lot of sun in southern california, and far south so the days are longer during the winter.
