Was this Katrina in the form of an ice storm?

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20090202/ap_o鈥?/a>

The Dems blamed Bush for not getting relief to millions of people in Louisiana weeks after Katrina hit New Orleans.

Odd that this ice storm (which hit every state from Kentucky Maine) still has millions of Americans without power in 20 degree weather..and the Left has mysteriously gone completely silent in their complaints regarding the support THESE storm victims have received (or have YET to receive) from the Obama administration.

Oh well, I guess natural disasters are different when they happen on the Dems watch. Was this Katrina in the form of an ice storm?
lv_consultant you are incorrect.

The ice storm DID displace people. Below freezing weather and not having heat drove people from homes. Those who stayed with no source of heat were taking their lives in their own hands. So you are wrong on this point.

I know scads of people who have still not been able to return home because of lack of power/heat or water.

Many water mains broke leaving many without water. So you are also wrong on this point.

As for food, I was lucky enough to have a friend to stay with and we had money to travel and feed ourselves, but many families did not enough food on hand (all stores were closed with no electricity, no gas was pumped with no electricity so not all could travel). We did get MRE's passed out in my town, and there were plenty who needed the food and water. So again, you are incorrect.

I myself, in Western KY, just today returned back to my apartment in a city because I was lucky enough to get power back today. We only got water back yesterday and phones Saturday.

FEMA did send in generators to help get the water pumping again, and I'm sure they did other things too. But your assumption that there is nothing for FEMA to do during an ice storm is erroneous.

Also from the other points I made, you can see that your assumption that ice storms don't displace people from their homes is just silly.
Obama has responded and sent aid.

Perhaps you are unaware that disasters take time to resolve. Was this Katrina in the form of an ice storm?
Apples and Oranges, and you know it.
The governor of KY said that they could handle it themselves. And again they have urged people who can, to travel away from the ice storms. Yet no one wants to do that, just like with Katrina. If I had no power and no back up source, I would be heading south in my car.Was this Katrina in the form of an ice storm?
please don't compare katrina to that icestorm in kentucky
NO this was New Hampshire.... several weeks back.....

Same crap happened in NEW HAMPSHIRE..... but hey it was a republican President.....

The Above one as of day 12 more the 6000 households still without electicity.... Imagine?
Obama sent aid,

And this is not on the same scale as Katrina. From what I have read, millions of people are not "without power" as you suggest. The scale is nowhere near the same.

But I understand you want to blame Obama for it, so go ahead, let your hate flow through you! Only by embracing your hate and fear, can you achieve true power. Welcome to the dark side.
Well said...where is Obama? Why isn't he down there surveying the damage and coordinating the relief effort? There are way more people involved here in the ice storm. Many States are involved but Katrina was basically one city New Orleans. What say you?
People are suffering and B. Hussein Obama hosted a Super Bowl party! Oh, the humanity!

Impeach him now!!! He's obviously ignoring Kentucky because he hates white people.
This ice storm is just as bad as Katrina. In a few ways it's worse. There are downed electrical wires covered underneath thick sheets of ice. Trees, homes, and other things are covered underneath thick sheets of ice. When that ice starts to melt a little, it could quite possibly kill someone. The exposed electrical wires could electrocute someone who unwittingly crosses their path.

The exposure to the elements alone are hazardous to someone's health.
FEMA was dispatched directly after the Governor requested aid. with an ice storm people are not displaced from their homes they have food and water. utility company's have to repair downed power lines and bring the power grids back online. not really much FEMA can do. maybe you expect them to deliver gasoline generators to everyone's home to provide power.
