Stereotypes to Northern People?

I've been hearing lots of stereotypes lately and it's really bothering me. I've heard "Northerners have no manners" "They're cranky cuz it's cold" or "They're ignorant and have not been taught any manners." I don't understand it and its annoying. It's not always cold, northeners aren't from the tip of Maine. I'm from Baltimore and we get 90 degree weather in the summer. I've met rude and nice Southerners and rude and nice Northerners. So what's the big deal? You know I've never seen a shirt that says "Northern girls do it best." My mom is southern and my dad is northern. Their families get along very well. So, does anyone from the north feel offended at all that people say we have no manners??Stereotypes to Northern People?

I'm from the South and I have met plenty of rude Southerners but I also know plenty of rude Northerners.



I like to say that *in general*, Southerners are more respectful- yes/no ma'am/sir, holding the door open for folks, etc..

It's not like we Southerners don't hae stereotypes too. When my cousins visited from New York the first thing they asked me was Where is my Farm. Alot of people tend to think we marry our cousins too. I don't believe in any stereotypes about northerners,like the ones about how they are mean and heartless and stuff.
