Help ID this Fir (?) tree?

Most Fir trees in the central maine area that I live in are Balsam Fir I would say (or all). However I have noticed another tree with fir like needles (flat with 2 silverly lines on the bottom). The needles are fairly "soft" and short and are greenish yellow (especially the new growth). The way the needles are situated on the branches/twigs is they appear to be flat (i.e. on either side of twig, not all the way around).

About half of the trees I see have pine cones on them (mid to late June) and many of these pine cones still have seeds (some are full of seeds). In wettish weather or early morning they are closed and in hot weather they are open. Not sure if they are from last fall or not.

So basically the trees are lighter in color than the trees I know to be Fir, they have softer and shorter needles, and they have pine cones with seeds in June (which very well could be last years crop).

Thanks.Help ID this Fir (?) tree?
Low's Fir? Grand Fir? Coast Redwood?

Pictures would be great, what do the leaves smell like if you crush them? Are the leaves notched at the tip? How long are the leaves? What the cone looks like, the bark and the shape of the tree can all be helpful as well in narrowing down the tree identity.
