What kind of clothing should we pack for a 2 or 3 week sightseeing trip to Maine in September?

We're from Eastern NC, so it's very warm here. Should we pack colder weather clothes for a trip to Maine? Would it be better to pack some of both? Is a light jacket enough or might we need heavy coats? Also, are we going to have a hard time finding places to stay overnight that will allow our Dachshund? Thanks for any help. We're looking forward to seeing the state! What kind of clothing should we pack for a 2 or 3 week sightseeing trip to Maine in September?
September weather can surprise you. There might be some hot days, but expect the temps to be in the high 60s during the day. You can be sure that evenings will cool down into the 50s and maybe as low as 45. I'd take a light jacket with a fleece vest to wear underneath.

TripsWithPets.com gives you an idea of hotel chains that accept pets and whether they charge a fee or a deposit. However, you will not find many hotel chains in Maine. Most hotels, B%26amp;B, and motels are Mom and Pop owned. Get a travel guide for that area and call to make sure your dog can get in. Be sure to have reservations .... This is a very busy season for New England.

I know you will miss the dog, but truthfully, he won't know if you have been gone 3 hours or 3 weeks. For his comfort, leave him home.
