It will probably be snowy, although in the past couple of years we've had mild winters. Usually, the roads will be fine during the winter months unless you find yourself right in a storm. For New England, they don't do a very good job of plowing right away. You'd think they would know how to handle snow by now. I mean, it's New England! But don't worry, it should be fine unless you're stuck right in a storm. Just be careful because the drivers in Massachusetts are really crazy and drive too fast. It is defensive driving at its best.
It will be COLD and probably snowing and icy. Not the best time to drive to Maine. It will probably be snowing and icy there too! The safest way would be to take a bus, because they are professional drivers and will stop if it is too dangerous. It will not be a 2 hour drive if it is snowing/icy!! It will take much longer! How's the weather in Boston in January?
Route 95 is really well maintained in the winter. It is one of the easiest interstates to drive. I used to live in Newburyport (about 35 miles north of Boston) and I have driven up to Portland in the winter. Take it slow if it's snowing, it's a pretty straight shot! You should be fine!! If it isn't snowing, you will have a pretty quick drive!! GOOD LUCK!
It snows all over the east coast begiining the first week of
December and thereafter...You'll be able to drive out of town maybe not the first day of snow but as soon as they plow you'll be good to goHow's the weather in Boston in January?
There will probably be snow on the ground, but unless it is actually snowing at the time you want to drive, you have nothing to worry about. If it is snowing, reschedule your drive to the next day.
I've lived in southern New England almost all my life, and I know many people around here who just don't drive when it's snowing. New England might be famous for its cold and snowy winters, but it really isn't as bad as people think - the snow here is no comparison to places like Buffalo, or Minnesota. I think only about 1 out of every 7 Christmases is "white".
Well, it's impossible to say on a specific day if it will be snowing. And it doesn't snow the entire month or anything. But in January, yes thre is a chance of snow. People still drive though, you'll be fine. Just go slow, and be cautious. Last year we didn't even have that much snow.

Boston in January is slushy %26amp; snowy. I suggest you get a pair of high top duck shoes. They are boots with plastic near the bottom to deal with the snowy slush of January. I would allow more than 2 hrs because of how the weather can be. Slick ice can slow your driving time down considerably. Good luck.
