Sights around Kennebunkport Maine?

I'm going to Kennebunkport Maine for an upcoming weekend. I'm wondering about places to see, nice shops, maybe lighthouses? Also, nice restaurants and just fun Maine-ish things to do! It's going to be in early October, so warm weather things will not be good. Also, it could be in the Kennebunkport area not just that specific town and I'd like to know a nice park or somewhere to have a picnic. In addition, we might be spending a day in Portland, so what can we do there also. Btw its my boyfriend and I ages 21 and 24. Thanks!!Sights around Kennebunkport Maine?
Cape Elizabeth Light House is really nice and a romantic spot for a picnic lunch.

Congdon's in Wells, Maine, has the best donuts on earth. Must go. So worth the calories.

For a romantic dinner and excellent food, go to Mia's at Pepperell Square, in Saco, Maine.

If you're into kitchy overdone hyper-touristy boardwalks, then visit Old Orchard Beach in the evening.

York, Maine, has a cool rocky beach, great for watching the tide and enjoying the sun. York also has some cool old colonial buildings you can tour, including an old jail from several hundred years ago.

Bath, Maine, is a cute small town to walk around, have coffee, window shop, and sit along the river.

The headquarters of LLBean is in Freeport, but it's overrated.

If you have time, a trip to the interior for white water rafting is a must. Northern Outdoors is hands down the best place, in The Forks, Maine. They even have their own brewery on site.

Kport is pretty small, quaint New Englandish sea port. Historically, it was a ship building center. Between Kport and Kennebunk off Rt35 is the Landing School - which teaches the art of wooden boat building. If you ever wanted to be a boat builder - that is THE school to go to. So, your history lesson.

You can pretty much walk to everything from Dock Square in Kport. Dock Square is the middle of the Kport village, where the obelisk is.

Coming soon to the Travel Channel show food wars will be a be a lobster roll contest. The contestants are the Clam Shack (on the bridge in Kport) and Allison's restaurant in Dock Square. So, you may want to try a lobster roll at both? I know who won - I watched them film it.

Best place to get drink in Kport used to be the Arundal Warf, but I don't know if that is still the case?

White Barn Inn is a AAA 5 star restaurant, very pricey - but excellent. The other high end restaurant in the area is Arrows in Ogunquit. Between the two, I'd recommend Arrows, but you can't go wrong with either one.

The diners drive-ins and dives show on food network recently did an episode at the Maine Diner, which is in Wells, ME. To get there from Kport - go south on rt9 (main drag through the village - Clam Shack is on Rt9) until you get the US Rt1. At Rt1 take a left, Maine Diner is about 100 yards down the road on your left. Best thing at the Maine Diner is the "seafood" chowder. They make good onion rings too.

There are lots of other restaurants in Kport, there is a brewpub (Shipyard).

For sights, there is Walkers Point, which is the Bush (as in President Bush) family summer residence. If you go past that, just keep going until you get Wildes District Road(at the fire house), then take a right. You will eventually get to a town called Cape Porpoise. Find your way out to the harbor - there is a picturesque light house there. Back on Rt9, keep going "north east" towards Biddeford Pool. There is a nature walk/sanctuary thingy @ Biddeford Pool, which if you walk out to the end you can see the Wood Island Light house. Both of these light houses are very close to Kport. If you could get a boat ride to Wood Island you can walk out to the light house itself.

If you drive up to Portland, there is the famous Portland Head Light, which is actually in South Portland or Cape Elizabeth? There is also twin lights in Cape Elizabeth, you can drive up to those, as you can with Portland Head Light.
