Any tips for hot weather barn work?

I live in Maine, where it can get pretty hot and humid. I have recently started working at a barn for lessons. I can't wear jeans, because of how hot it is, and if I wear shorts my legs will get all dirty. What do you do when it's hot and you have to ride/work in a barn. Any tips are welcome! Thank you!Any tips for hot weather barn work?
wear jeans or maybe thin jogging type pants? Also wear a tank top, pull your hair up and wear a hat. Wear sunscreen/ bugspray. Drink lots of water. I always work really hard in the barn and then when i'm hosing off a horse i'll hose off too :) or a water fight is a good way to cool down lol :P
well personally, i would always were jeans and maybe a light tank top. try to stay away from dark colors and heavy clothing.Any tips for hot weather barn work?
I'd say shower after wearing shorts or wear linen.
I have the same problem here, because I live in the Mediterranean and it is scorching in summer.

I wear cropped trousers or long shorts. Either way you have to wear one or the other so the cropped trousers keep you a little cooler while your legs get a little less dustier than what you would if you wore shorts.

Every day in summer we have plenty of hot water anyway (solaration heated water tanks) so I would be having a shower if I was a little dusty or alot anyway.

:-)

Cut up old jeans are great because they are thicker for riding yet they can be shortened to your desired length.Any tips for hot weather barn work?
I have the same problem to. I wear jeans all the time but I bring an extra pair of shorts just incase. And I use them when I am not riding or mucking out stalls.
Well I wouldnt really worry about getting ur legs dirty if i were u... theyd get dirty even if u wore jeans!hahhaha! so just wear like a spagetti strap and shorts and then just shower after! LOL!!!
I always wear jeans and either a tank top or a T-shirt. Sometimes if I got really hot I would roll my jeans up to my knees, but I always like to have to option of being able to roll them back down. Sometimes my friends and I would have water fights when we had free time(not near the horses though), and we also would stick a hose to our hair, and wet is down really well. Make sure you drink a lot as well. I drank like a fish when I worked. I live in TN, and sometimes it would get up to 100è—².
Well...likely people wear jeans...you should try something a bit loose to let the air in and a light tanktop

and refrain from wearing dark clothing because that can get you REALLY hot :]

Hope I helped! ^-^
I wear jeans, or breeches, but I always wear a tank top and i drink as much water as possible. I take a cooler so that it is nice and cold. When it's really hot I give my horse a bath because I never fail to get wet too! Also at my barn we have quite a large fan that we use in the summer. Maybe you could convince the barn owner to get one of these. Good Luck.
I like to wear cotton, like khaki pants- I can still ride in these with my half chaps. And I like to wear long sleeve button down cotton shirts to protect my skin from the sun. Also, I am susceptible to heat stroke, so I like to bring a frozen gatorade with me to the barn. It stays cool as it melts and has lots of electrolytes
I'd just wear the shorts and deal with dirty legs. You could always rinse them off during the day, which would also cool you off!

Here's my tip: don't chug down a lot of ice cold water when you are really hot! I was working at the horse farm next door when I was 10 or 11, got really, really hot, then went into their house and chugged down a whole glass of ice water, and promptly passed out from the shock. I said I was fine, but they made me spend the night in a hospital (I really was fine).
