Weather in New England states?

What kind of weather and dangerous animals/storms does Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut have?Weather in New England states?
You'll find the roughest weather up here in Maine and in the White Mountains of New Hampshire.

The worst weather comes from nor'easters, which are massive snow storms that gather their power from the Atlantic Ocean as they ride up the coast. The moisture from the ocean helps to create more snow and the storms end up dumping up to several feet of snow in Maine. The storms come with high winds, making visibility difficult for boaters and motorists.

Ice storms are another winter storm, but they are much rarer than nor'easters. Ice storms develop over several days of mild daytime temperatures with light rain or drizzle. The water freezes over night, weighing down power lines and trees, and coating everything outdoors in thickening layers of ice. Driving is treacherous. Eventually the weight of the tree limbs causes the power lines and tree limbs to break, cutting off power to hundreds and even thousands of homes and businesses. Downed trees block roads, destroy cars, damage houses -- you get the picture.

The Ice Storm of 1998 crippled the entire state of Maine for a week.

Summer storms aren't anywhere near as crippling. We get an occasional violent thunderstorm, but that's it.

As for dangerous wild animals, there really aren't any. Maine has no poisonous snakes, because the climate is too cold for them to survive dormancy in the cold months. Coyotes don't bother people at all. The greatest risk comes from the moose, but only because moose get hit by vehicles a lot at night. Maine has more black bears than any state east of the Mississippi River, but despite widespread belief, black bears are not dangerous animals -- humans are far more dangerous! Black bears avoid humans as much as possible. Their stealth has earned them the moniker "ghosts of the Maine woods."

I have had the pleasure of watching black bears in and around a Bangor city park for the last three years. I have had at least a half dozen close encounters of 50 feet or less, with no attempts by the bears to attack me or even to scare me away.
