What coat should I buy for college in MAINE?

I will be starting college this fall. i want to buy a warm coat because I heard that MAine has crucial weathers. So, I was thinking of buying a coat. It is north face, and cost 500 dollars. That might be a little expensive though. So in your opinion what kind/brand of coat should I buy. I live in Boston and I hate the cold here. So I want to be warm in MAine because I will be living there for 4 years. Any ideas? What coat should I buy for college in MAINE?
Go to L.L. Bean in Freeport, or to the store's outlets in Portland, Bangor, or Ellsworth and get a nice jacket perfect for Maine's climate. You don't need anything expensive, just your basic shell with a fleece liner. On really cold days you can wear a sweat shirt underneath.

The outlet stores feature surplus jackets, plus returns and "irregulars." Don't be afraid of considering a jacket tagged "irregular" at an outlet, because quite often you won't be able to figure out what the heck is supposedly wrong with it. L.L. Bean's standards are so high that an irregularity could be a a slightly misaligned stitch that you would need a magnifying glass to notice.

Plus, L.L. Bean guarantees all of the merchandise it sells and will back that guarantee. What coat should I buy for college in MAINE?

Dont buy a 500 dollar jacket.

Thats too much if you havent noticed.

Just Buy A Nice Jacket And But A Sweater Under It.
You should definitely get a North face jacket and fleece jacket too. This is the best type of jacket for New England's harsh winters and crazy weather. Regarding the cost of the jacket I agree they are expensive so I suggest you should try going to Macy's or an outlet mall such as The Wrentham Village Outlets (located in Wrentham, MA) because they have several styles of North face jackets and also fleeces possibly for a lesser price.
