I have pet rabbits living in an outdoor shed. I feed and water them twice a day, clean their cages very regulalry and they all have pretty good sized cages. The problem is I rarely take them out to be exercised, and I haven't really bonded with them. I live in maine so the weather can be a little cold. Thus making me not want to go and spend time with them. Please any suggestions!A problem with me and my bunnies!?
How about instead of getting a rabbit and deciding you don't want to devote the time and attention it takes to make one happy and throwing it outside in a hutch, you bring it in your house, get it a cage, buy one of those playpens, and let it out often. It will bond with you eventually. Trust me, it will make your furry friend much happier!
bond with them when the weather is niceA problem with me and my bunnies!?
Let them loose! No joke. If you do that, running everywhere trying to keep them in one area will warm you up, give you great exercise, improve the mood of your bunnies and you, and create a great bonding experience!
How cold is it?You can play with it if you have a fence in yard i did that today. She was very happy/Why cant you bring it in the house?A problem with me and my bunnies!?
My bunny lives outside and i very very rarely take her out in the winter but in the summer she is out every day. I would suggest that you bring your bunnies into the house and let them run about for a while in your livingroom or bedroom and just make sure there is no way that they can get hurt x
bring them inside and play with them or buy a rabbit leash to walk them, wait for the weather to be nice?
you could leave their cage open-i leave my rabbit cage open and she just roams in the front yard-and she never ever leaves.....plus she goes into her cage when it gets colder
I live in Minnesota, so I can relate.
I show them in the spring and summer so I always spend a lot of time with them then, and you could always bring them in the house for an hour or two on a hardwood floor so they can run around.
They probably don't need to be exercised since you mentioned they have a good sized cage, but if you want to bond just bring a chair out there and hold them!
Not much you can really do in the winter :/
You need to smarten up and act like a responsible pet owner. If your going to keep those animals in the cold, then you need to be the one going out and giving them the exercise and mental stimulation that is REQUIRED by a proper owner. Rabbits are NOT animals that can live good lives being left alone in a shed or hutch. It would be the same as leaving a cat or dog in a "pretty good sized" kennel in the garage and only seeing them twice a day.
bring them in raguarly in winter and just sit with them on your lap and stroke them and let them wander around . in summer go out and sit on a blanket or something in there cages and let them run around you.
