What is average summer weather in Maine and Vermont?

I'm from northern ireland, and I'll be going to either Maine or Vermont from mid July to early August. I have absolutely no idea what to expect weather wise! What kind of clothes would you recommend I pack? Thank you so much! What is average summer weather in Maine and Vermont?
If you're going to the coast the weather should be a bit milder. I live on an island in Maine and July-August can be a bit brisk and overcast (the Fourth of July fireworks celebration is almost always postponed due to fog or rain). Definitely bring a windbreaker, and maybe one warmer jacket. Other than that you should be fine with jean, short/capris, tanktops and t-shirts!

Have fun!

Oh, and also, if you're planning on swimming, bring some kind of strap on sandals. I know they look super nerdy, and I personally never use them, but I always regret it when I come home and I'm all cut up from the barnacles. What is average summer weather in Maine and Vermont?
i live in maine..in summer the weather is typically hot (mid 80's, sometimes low 90's but rare) and humid-which menas it will feel "sticky"--its usually a little cooler on the coast compared to mmore inland areas--also, rain and thunderstorms are very common during the summer--at least brief thunderstorms--last couple summers it rained almost everyday..i almost daily wear shorts and a t-shirt (maybe even a tank top) during the summer
