What I the weather like in Nebraska ? In Maine we have very cold winters, lots of snow and below 0 temps and we have moderator hot summers, 90 degrees or so. Does anyone know of any major differences between te two states? From Southern Maine thinking about moving to Nebraska?
I'm from Nebraska and can tell you that winters in Nebraska are very similar to the winters you are describing. Temperatures are generally in the 20s or lower from the end of November until the middle of March, and we receive large amounts of They are also very humid, so everything often feels wet and sticky during those months.
Spring and Fall are both beautiful... Flowers bloom in the Spring and create lots of great colors, while all the leaves change colors in the Fall to make even more beautiful colors.
Nebraska is much flatter than Maine and is quite windy. It also has more farmland and is completely land-locked. Most of the bodies of water are man-made and aren't great for swimming or boating. From Southern Maine thinking about moving to Nebraska?
Winters would generally be milder, summers similar heat but without as much humidity. Nebraska is kind of on the edge between the dryer mountain states (Montana, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, AZ) and the more humid Midwest states. Nebraska can tap into the tropical moisture from the gulf, hence tornadoes are a possibility. However it sort of depends on where in Nebraska your talking about, the further east - the more Midwest like the climate is.
If you've never been there, Nebraska is largely flat and barren landscape. It would be a radical difference from green lush somewhat mountainous Maine.
