Can a Maine Coon Cat survive in cold weather better than any other cat?

I hear cats can be of at 20 F. Maine Coons also have that fur underbelly and snow paws..Can a Maine Coon Cat survive in cold weather better than any other cat?
J didn't say he would keep the cat outdoors; he simply asked a question about survival in cold weather. the answer is yes, the long thick coat does offer protection. that's the reason for the adaptation. feral cats that had the thickest coats in Maine were the ones that were most likely to survive to mate. i've lived in alaska and took in lots of stray cats. the ones with short hair usually arrived frostbitten, with their parts of their ears and tails missing from previous frostbite. the longhairs were fine. it makes a huge difference.
Long haired cat breeds Do much better than short haired cat breeds When outside in the cold. It is the undercut that helps them retain heat. And along with the fur in between their paws This will help sheild them against the cold ground. But because of their long fur they need to be groomed regularly or they will develop fur mats.



On a side note I may be biased I just love maincoons. I have an 11 year old maincoon who lives indoors. He prefers it that way.Can a Maine Coon Cat survive in cold weather better than any other cat?
A cat will jump up under a car in that weather and can be killed when the engine starts. It happens all the time. A cat or dog should not be left outside in weather that is too cold for you. It doesn't matter what kind of cat or dog it is. If it is a pet, it should be treated as well as a family member.
Not really. And anyone buying a Maine Coon from a breeder would be signing a contract that the cat will stay INDOORS where it belongs.



And where did you hear that Maine Coons have "snow paws"? LOL! I know several breeders of the top Maine Coons in the country and not one of them has "snow paws".Can a Maine Coon Cat survive in cold weather better than any other cat?
