A few questions about Maine?

I plan on moving there soon to attend a college, i'm tired of Los Angeles. So i'd like to know a few things. How's the weather? The population? The surroundings? Is it really as boring as everyone says?

If you answers all of them i'd appreciate it, and it'd be nice to get some answers from people who live there. Add anything you'd like about it too (:A few questions about Maine?
I've never lived in Maine, but I have vacationed there. It is beautiful there. Beautiful scenery. It is a lot colder than Los Angeles. The population and traffic is also way less there too! It's kinda boring especially compared to LA, however it's a relaxing boring if that makes any sense! You can just really enjoy nature there.A few questions about Maine?
I lived in Maine for 10 years and the weather in the winter is cold , you will not have a hot summer as you do in LA the population depends on where you live , I think the whole state does not have as many people as you have in LA . Maine is what I wanted , laid back I love to garden so I had a huge garden , I chopped wood bailed hay for farmers etc but this is what I wanted .I moved to Maine from CT. I like the slower pace and where I lived country music is what the main music is . If you are going University of Maine they have campuses all over Augusta Bangor and as far as Fort Kent and more ,if you are going to Colby then you will be in Waterville , and Bates in Lewiston and there are others and it would help me if I knew which one so I can explain about the towns , Southern Maine is city type but again not like La its is faster pace . I could go on all night ,I loved Maine because I love the air and the outdoors but I got laid off from 2 jobs so I moved out and I did miss it and now settled down in Idaho I wish I could answer more for you .A few questions about Maine?
Born Mainer, right here ;)

(LOL, we have our own LA here - the Twin Cities of Lewiston and Auburn).

Weather?

Depends on where in Maine you want to be. Springs are warm (50's), summers are muggy and hot (80's), falls are a bit chilly (40's), and winters (depending on where you live) can be especially brutal. Sunny half the time, raining/snowing/cloudy the other half of the time.

On the coast, winters are usually mild (in the 40's) and everywhere else in the state is 30 and below. The coast doesn't get as much snow as the interior because the temp usually stays above freezing a lot of the time. It is for this reason that the coast does not get as much snow as the interior.

I am assuming that Los Angeles is so big that the city is split up into multiple districts. Here in Maine, the towns are so small that neighboring towns need to pool together their resources. Unless you live in a big city like Portland, South Portland, Lewiston, Auburn, etc. or on Campus and you plan on commuting to school, good luck. Many roads in small cities get blocked and are not cleared in time for school. And if they are, expect... delays.

The Population?

About 1.3 million people live in Maine. The most populated areas of the state are Central Maine (including Lewiston and Auburn) and Southern Maine (including Portland, South Portland, Westbrook, Biddeford and Saco). Then there's that little speck of a city Bangor in the middle of nowhere (up North). About 98 percent of the population is white.

The Surroundings? Is it boring?

The population of the biggest city Portland plus the surround cities and towns is around 100,000. Nowhere as near as big as Los Angeles.

If you are a city person, you will like Portland. If you are a nature person, you will enjoy the coast and ski resorts. Just keep in mind that anywhere you go in Maine, be it a city like Portland, a town like Farmington, or out in the wilderness, you will have A LOT of room.

Unity is in the middle of the woods, but it isn't too from the coast or big cities. It's only an hour away from Bangor and just a few (2-3) hours away from Bangor, Augusta, Lewiston, Auburn, and Portland and the beautiful town of Bar Harbor. It is also about 5 hours from Boston.

The landscape is absolutely gorgeous. The mountains, the forests, the coast. Great air quality too.

I've lived here for all 17 years of my life and I plan on going out of state. I'm tired of the little towns. I want to try something new. I'm sure that wherever we go, we will find something we like :)
