I leave for BMT in 2 weeks, and was wondering how far do you run staring off? I am currently running 2 miles a day. But I live in Maine, and the weather here is only in the 60's. I just want to be sure I will be able to do it.Air Force BMT Running?
Things have changed a lot for BMT since I did it in 1990. For you, running 2 miles a day, no problem at BMT. You shouldn't stand out one bit, which is good. You honestly don't want to stand out for anything too early, either being too good at something, or being horrid at something.
You are in good shape. Have you also been doing other things, liike sit-ups, push-ups, chin-ups, etc?Air Force BMT Running?
When I went through Air Force BMT back in 96, we had an initial run of the required distance (1.5 mile) to determine our ability group / level of fitness. For the open road run time, the MTI's will have you run for a set time (10 minutes to start off) then sound a horn and the runners would turn around and run back to where they started off from. As the weeks go by, the time going out before the horn blows will gradually increase in time which will help build up a persons running endurance. I remember there was an old bus that was the reference mark for the 1 mile mark on the route.

When I separated from the Air Force (back in 06), I still run at least 2 miles at a shot and check my time for 1.5 miles to see where I stand.
