What is the weather like in Maine in January?

I am planning a weekend getaway in January, and I have always wanted to go to Maine. I was wondering what the weather is like out there, I will be driving from New York, so I am concerned about driving if there is a snowstorm or something. any info would be appreciated. thanks in advanceWhat is the weather like in Maine in January?

Maine sucks in the winter. New England in general sucks in the winter, but Maine is the worst. Don't do it. Too cold, too snowy, just plain nasty, nothing to do but huddle someplace warm. Don't do it. Try Hawaii or Florida or Australia instead, it will have much better weather

first off, PLEASE ignore that geology rock star idiot..maine and new england are AWESOME in the winter, just ask the thousands of people who visit every winter...january is usually cold (temps can range from teens to 20's, sometimes a "warm" 30 degree day)...BUT it is also mostly sunny surprisingly..its not like it snows every single day--a snowstorm can pass thru and be gone in a day just like the rest of the country, besides watch any weather channel and you'll see it coming...fyi, i grew up in upstate NY and now live in maine--the weather is almost exactly the same.What is the weather like in Maine in January?
The weather could be mild and then turn cold and icy at the drop of a hat. Maine usually has a lot of snow each winter, but it is the ice storms that are much worse. You could get lucky and be up there during a dry spell, but either way plan on it being COLD.
