I'm a 15 year old male from Maine, and I've been singing for all of my life. Every time that I try to sing in warm weather, I can only reach notes that males would normally reach. My highest note in my falsetto is a couple notes above the B flat in Bohemian Rhapsody ("... for MEEEE!!!!"), and my highest note in my full voice is C5, which is also the highest note in "Who's Crying Now?" by Journey. The only time that i seem to be able to reach these notes is when I'm singing outside in the cold. Why is this?
Also, I don't exactly warm up before singing, which I'm aware is not the best idea for a devout singer like myself to do. Instead, I sing "Sweet Child O' Mine" in the same key and vocal styling as Axl Rose did on Appetite For Destruction. I know that everyone thinks that singing like him is the worst thing I could EVER do, but, it doesn't hurt when I do it; it actually seems to clear my throat and help me reach my high notes. Why is this?! I don't know ANYONE else who does these things like me! Lemon and room-temp water makes my throat all mucusy and hard for me to sing, and hot tea does the same. Soft Drinks HELP me sing! What makes me so different?!Why do I sing better in cold weather?
cold makes the vocal cords constrict, whether it's cold air passing over them or cold water on them. the constriction helps you hit those high notes coz after all, it's a tightly stretched vocal cord that makes a high pitch.Why do I sing better in cold weather?
maybe it's all in your body chemistry. Perhaps your vocal cords are naturally looser, and therefore you need to tighten them up to produce a more controlled sound? I don't know how these things work at all - no clue at all. Just a thought.Why do I sing better in cold weather?

Doggie cold weather Field jackets?
In April my dogs and I are going on a two-week backpack excursion in the northern part of Maine. I have one lab mix who has a thin coat like a lab and I also have a German Shepard mix who has a Shepard like coat except its not a thick because of a skin allergy. We live in N.E. and have survived many harsh winters. They both love to be outside and to play rough, so knitted sweaters don鈥檛 work so well. We have bought many jackets but they always seem to get destroyed on hikes or during play or don鈥檛 hold up in the wash.
So far we have two different sets of doggie snow booties and two heavy-duty doggie parkas. From what I've heard about where we are hiking the weather changes often and dramatically so I want to be prepared. I have been looking for something that can just be thrown over the top of the dogs to keep them protected I have been shopping around and found two jackets that I like but I would like the outside to be water resistant along with a fleece interior. Sure thing - two very good sources of dogs coats are Dover Saddlery, which has a waterproof turnout coat, as well as a separate fleece turnout that can be worn beneath, and a fleece lined coat - all modeled after a horse turnout.

They are well made and not only fit well, but hold up to rough wear despite the price, as they are their house brand.

If at all possible, I would suggest a trip to the SmartPak store - they have a LOT of stuff there that is not on the website, and fit is important, although their customer service and return policies are excellent!
You will probably find that layering makes sense - it is far better - if you can find them- to get the version that is just the outer waterproof sheet, and the add a fleece or quilted layer beneath is you find they need it. There is often weather that only requires the dog stay dry and have a windproof layer, and the added insulation is too much when they are on the move. You'll also have less to pack.
The turnouts that just go over their back and shoulders also allow for more freedom of movement, and don't forget that their natural cooling process occurs from their belly. A well fitting turnout is far better than anything that makes an attempt at sleeves or has too much around the chest.
and take extra booties - you'd be surprised how easy it to lose them, and if you have no spare tire... you'll find those at SmartPak as well - if you go there, ask about the upstairs 'bargain attic'!

Whether or not it's a good place to raise a family depends on you, but I grew up there, and I turned out well. Yes, it snows in the winter. And in Maine, the winter lasts from about Sept until May. It's not snowing constantly during that time like some states, but it's cold. It gets hot in August, but you'd only have a few weeks of wishing you had air conditioning. There aren't a lot of people in Maine at all, but not a lot of people retire there because of the winters. I love having some sun so I expect at least a sunny summer,in Seattle even in the summer its cloudy most the time which stinks.I want the town to be somewhat liberal or very liberal.I am a open minded,agnostic so.....yea I don't wanna run into a town where Id be hated for that.
Got any ideas on some nice towns or citys in either Maine or Vermont.

Ah, you are really searching. My ex wife lives in Western Massachusetts, so I have spent a lot of time there. The country is beautiful, especially in the fall. But it is expensive, and the people are very up tight in my experience. I think you would be happier in Montana. Speaking of Montana, you might look at Kalispell up north. It is a growing town and you are just a hop, skip and a jump from Glacier National Park, and the Canadian border.

Winter Elopement and honeymoon ideas in Maine?
Hi there my fiance and I wish to elope and have our honeymoon in Maine very soon, we are moving back to europe and our fams on both sides are deceased due to various medical issues so its just us basically... and 5 dogs lol but theya re home.... anyway since it is just him and I where can we have a winter elopement in true maine fashion as well as a honeymoon.... I know its winter and colder than an ididerod huskies junk sack but I lived therfe when I was younger and not old enough to marry so looking for now.... THANK YOU!! It is SO much harder finding something especially in regards to lighthouses or by the water.... was hoping swans isl but assuming thats all shut or kennebeckport even bar harbor sorry for the typos my contacts are out for the night lol

I just honeymooned there in September %26amp; things were already starting to go to "off season" hours. One really nice restaurant actually told us they close in November and don't reopen until April.
