Germany is a great place to be stationed but I'm not a fan of Ktown or Ramstein Air Base. I've lived in Germany for 20 years and worked on Ramstein. Look at it like this. Ktown has the largest concentration of Americans of any city outside of the US. I think it would be better to be stationed at Spangdahlem Air Base in the Eifel about an hour north of Ramstein along the Luxembourg and Holland borders. You get to be in Germany and at a much quieter base. Ramstein is a NATO headquarters base a lot of different type of military to include the complete setup of brass and I mean a lot of brass. Ramstein is mainly a staging base for cargo aircraft and a few civilian airliners picking up soldiers. On the other hand Spang is a fighter base with F-16's and A-10's in a quiet countryside setting. It is all up to what type of setting you are looking for and what type of job you perform and what the air force offers you. Look to go to an Army base with Air Force personnel. Normally you would be left alone to do your job and work beside the Army not a bad situation. If you could get it try Stuttgart a fantastic city growing very rapidly and only 2 hours from the Alps or Bodensee a huge lake between Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Good luck!!!Ever been to Kaiserslautern GERMANY???
