Did anyone actually "see" the northern lights yesterday night?

I live near the 45th parallel in NY and it was heavy overcast through the the last few days. The lights were supposed to be seen from Maine to Michigan, I missed the weather but usually when we sit under clouds like this most of the north east is pretty bad for viewing the night sky. (The preliminary photos that came on the web look photo shopped). If you live in the viewing area, were you able to see them Tuesday? or was it too cloudy?Did anyone actually "see" the northern lights yesterday night?

Melkel - lucky you! It must be amazing up there, though nobody's heard of it (me included). Sorry you didn't catch it this time. Fingers crossed for more CMEs :)

I did "see" the aurora in my head, in the form of memories from 2001. Putting quotation marks around a word does not emphasise it. It indicates a tone of irony.

Obnoxious pedantry aside, it was too cloudy for us to see anything - but auroral activity was high. New York is far enough north, but a combination of clouds and city lights make aurorae invisible.

With any luck the second CME will trigger another geomagnetic storm, and we could get another chance tonight :) hope it clears up!

Have you seen the aurora before? Most of the preliminary photos from last night look quite accurate. When the sky is clear, it's an absolutely unbelievable phenomenon.
At first it was not cloudy and I was able to see them for about 2 hours then big over cascade cloud covered it :o( I posted a photo on my fb.... You can veiw tonight (3rd) and tomorrow (4th)Did anyone actually "see" the northern lights yesterday night?
