I am thinking about getting a ferret this summer. I go up to a trailer park in Maine and they allow pets under 20 pounds. If I got a ferret, would it be okay to bring him up to Maine with us? When the weather is nice we go to the beach, meaning we'd have to leave him alone for a few hours. If we kept him inside a cage (a good size cage) that had things to keep him busy, would that be okay? The trip to Maine is about a hour. Will that give him difficulties? Or should I just leave him home and have a realitive or friend go to my house and feed him while we're gone? I hate doing that though. Please help!!Thinking about a ferret?
Well if you want to. I think you should learn about them before you bring the ferret to Maine.
I would take him.
i took my ferrets on a 8 hour drive but i didnt keep them in the cage the whole time and they did fineThinking about a ferret?
i think you should get the ferret
it would be fine to bring him, just try during the car ride to keep him on your lap or maybe to reach in his carrying cage ( youll need one ) and pet him often,
its fine to leave him alone for long periods of time as long as you get him out and play as soon as you get back, ferrets dont have much of a memory so he shouldnt mind to much
you dont have to leave him with a relitive, you will be ok
just remember that 70% of ferrets get cancer. also if your going to get one id say that a few hours alone would be fine but for anything long term you either have to spend a lot of time with it or get it a friend. also i would suggest changing there cage at least three or four times a week because they stink. the up side is that there very smart and you can train them to do several different things like peeing in a cat box.Thinking about a ferret?
you can take him with you, he'll probably sleep the whole ride, they are good pets that reqqire you to take them out of the cage and play with them for about 3 hours a day. they (like most people say do) dont smell as bad as their rep. i mean just clean the cage regularly and you should be fine. cut4 animals and good pets!! good luck!!
First, ferrets sleep about 14 hours a day, they are not awake for very long, my ferrets LOVE car rides. I wouldn't leave it behind, my ferrets stopped eating when I went to Texas for a few weeks, also, it can be hard to find someone willing to take care of them, and your ferrets would need to come out and play if you were to leave them. Could that person handle it?
